چکیده
The middle Miocene foraminifera and ostracod record of the Central Paratethys usually reflects stable normal marine epositional environments for Badenian more patchy, less restricted Sarmatian. A 17 m thick outcrop at Pécs-Danitzpuszta, Mecsek Mts, SW Hungary exposed an upper to Pannonian succession where foraminifers ostracods document significant environmental changes. basal layers section contain micro- macrofossils indicating marine, shallow, warm, well-oxygenated habitat with relatively high-energy conditions algal vegetation on bottom, represent (13.82 12.65 Ma). deposits are followed by coarse sandstone, breccia siltstone barren microfossils but containing rhizoliths. sediments were probably subaerially some time. following inundation, marked appearance clays limestones as well fossils, was dated late Sarmatian (ca. 12 11.6 Ma) basis microfossil assemblages from part (Porosononion granosum Zone, Aurila notata Zone). This community is characterized exclusively eurytopic forms unstable vegetated marginal environment fluctuations in salinity, oxygen food availability. Within 5 interval, a unique fresh- oligohaline fauna characterizes few than 1 thickness. consists highly euryhaline freshwater assemblages, temporary salinity reduction 5–10 ‰. No similar has been reported Partethys so far. eventual disappearance paleontological coupled complete turnover indicates transition Sea brackish Lake Pannon, marking Sarmatian/Pannonian boundary (11.6

Timing of the Middle Miocene Badenian Stage of the Central Paratethys
A new and precisely defined chronometric subdivision of the Badenian (Middle Miocene, regional stage of Central Paratethys) is proposed. This uses global events, mainly geomagnetic polarity reversals as correlated chronometric boundaries, supported by climatic and sea-level changes in addition to isotope events and biostratigraphic data. The Karpatian/ Badenian boundary lies at 16.303 Ma, at th...
متن کاملFish-otoliths from the marine-brackish water transition from the Middle Miocene of the Belgrade area, Serbia
We describe here the first fossil otoliths from the Middle Miocene (Badenian and Sarmatian) of Belgrade, Serbia. They were obtained from Lower Badenian outcrops at Slanci and from upper Badenian and Sarmatian sediments recovered from four shallow wells near the village of Barajevo. The otoliths from the Lower Badenian of Slanci represent fishes typical for an open marine environment, characteri...
متن کاملFeatures for the Classification of Marine Microfossils
Features for a new application in pattern recognition are presented. The objects to be classiied are coccoliths (marine microfos-sils). Since the objects diier both in their outline and in their internal structure the features developed take into consideration both kinds of variability. The features concerning the internal structure are computed on the grey-value images produced by a scanning e...
متن کاملMediterranean and Paratethys. Facts and Hypotheses of an Oligocene to Miocene Paleogeography (short Overview)
Paleogeographical considerations on the development of the Paratethys and the Mediterranean during Oligocene and Miocene are presented in twelve time-slices. Plate tectonic activities and the collision of India with Asia caused the destruction of the Western Tethys Ocean in the Late Eocene. The Mediterranean and the intracontinental Paratethys basins came into existence as new marine realms. In...

Background and Objectives: ?????? Methods: ?????? Findings: ?????? Conclusion: ????? The present study is the first study aimed at biostratigraphy based on calcareous nannoplankton that has been performed on all succession exposed from the Oligo-Miocene marine deposits (members a to f of the Qom Formation). The studied deposits are located in the middle part of the Central Iran Zone and m...
